Doorway Flash by Stacie Penney

Doorway Flash Entry
by Stacie Penney

Clear and blue pills. Once a day. Only a trial, I chant to myself.

The doctor's words interrupt. "...won't knock him out unless it's not ADHD. It's a small dosage to see how he reacts. We'll reevaluate in thirty days."

I clutch the signed warrant and walk through the pharmacy's doors.

My hand trembles as I hand the prescription over.

The truth freezes me. How do you teach a six year old to swallow pills?
